Saam Fu Chinese Cultural Arts helped celebrate Chinese New Year 2019 in Hilo. After a busy week of performances around Oahu, we made the trek to the Big Island. The team touched down on Friday, February 8th and hit the ground running. Immediately from the airport we started our Hilo appearances at the KTA Super Stores Center at Puianako.
Then on Saturday, Saam Fu made its way throughout Prince Kuhio Plaza. Our lions blessed the merchants and wished them good luck & prosperity for the year. Hundreds of shoppers greeted our lions and fed them lucky red packets for good luck. After a short break, we made our way to Waiakea Center to bring good luck blessings to Walmart and other shops in the area.
We wrapped up our time in Hilo on Sunday with a kung fu demonstration and lion dance blessings at Puainako Center.
A special mahalo nui loa to all the organizers, merchants and spectators that made this trip to Hilo fun and special for us. We hope to see you again next year and many years to come!
