Saam Fu Celebrates Year of the Horse 2014

Chinese New Year at Chinatown Cultural Plaza

Saam Fu Chinese Cultural Arts would like to wish everyone “Gung Hei Fat Choy!” This year, we are celebrating the Year of the Horse.

Our school has been steadily gaining exposure in Hawaii. On the recommendation of our good friend, Mr. Ernie Loo of Lung Kong Physical Culture Club, we were fortunate enough to be invited to participate in some of the Chinese New Year (CNY) festivities sponsored by the United Chinese Coalition. We joined Lung Kong, Chinese Lion Dance Association (Wah Yun Culture and Arts Academy), and Yeung Dak Physical Culture Dragon and Lion Dance Association in opening the stage program at Chinatown Cultural Plaza in Honolulu, Hawaii.

On CNY day, January 31st, Saam Fu made its debut on the Cultural Plaza stage performing Qigong (Chi Kung), Kung Fu, and Lion Dance. Despite the weather conditions and wet stage, our students did very well. For many, it was their first time performing a demonstration on stage. We are proud of all those who participated and are blessed to have students, who are dedicated, focused, and hard-working.

Before one of the performances, Sifu Brandon was approached by a local video blogger, Larissa Nielsen. Unbeknownst to him, Sifu Jamie had directed Larissa in his direction. She was interested in featuring Saam Fu in a short video blog about Chinese New Year. Mahalo to Larissa for a job well done! Read the article here.
